Why Not Keep The KJV

Over the past 6,000 years there has been a deliberate and concentrated effort on the part of Satan to destroy the word of God. He first started in the Garden of Eden by raising doubts about whether God had said what He had said. Genesis 3:1 "And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?" The Devil's tactics have not changed since the beginning. He first questioned God's words, then denied God's words and ended up calling God a liar. Old Slewfoot has his legions out there today following in his footsteps, emulating his tactics. We call this the "Yea Hath God Said Society."(YHGSS). Satan even tried to destroy the physical line of Jesus Christ by killing God's people. He failed to do that although he sure gave his best effort. He thought that he had Him when Jesus was nailed to the cross and died. Butů.Jesus rose from the grave and proved His deity by His Resurrection. Luke 24:34 "Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon". He lives today and those who trust Him as Saviour are assured of a home in heaven. 1 John 5:12 "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." Christians do not follow a dead prophet who followed a moon god but a Living Risen Saviour. That is what makes Christianity different from all other religions. Jesus Christ is the Risen LORD.

Since the devil failed in the destruction of the physical body of Jesus, he has been hard at work since then trying to destroy the words of God. Even in Paul's time there were those who attempted to destroy God's words by changing or corrupting them.

2 Corinthians 2:17 "For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ."

Yet, God has promised us that He would preserve His words, His individual words. Psalm 12:6-7 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

The originals were written mainly in Hebrew (OT) and Greek (NT). These originals were used extensively by Jews, and by Christians in the early churches. As they wore them out or damaged them, they made copies to preserve the words of God. The originals are no longer in existence and haven't been for around 1800 years. No one living today has seen them. In Jesus' day all that they had were copies of the Old Testament books. They did not have "originals" yet they called them "scriptures." All that we have today are copies of copies of copies, etc. Some of them date as far back as A.D. 200. but most are later than that. There are thousands of partial copies and manuscripts available for examination. In most cases, not all, but mostly, the only reason that we have the very early manuscripts is because they are corrupt. The church ignored them or rejected them. Their very corruption ensured their survival. Yes, God has said that He would preserve His words. Matthew 24:35 "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." See also, Proverbs 1:23; 2:1; 4:4; 7:1; and Isaiah 59:21,

Has God kept His promises? Of course He has through the thousands of faithful copies of copies of copies of the original manuscripts. The miraculous preservation of the words of God is the effort of many wonderful saints of God throughout the centuries of man's existence on the face of the earth. However, along with the trusted and tried pure copies, bible corrupters were hard at work following the dictates of their father the devil to try to destroy God's words. Studies about this subject are plentiful and varied. In this day and age of the information super highway there is no reason for a person to be ignorant of this vital subject. I have personally spent thousands of hours reading and studying about the preservation of God's words. I have entered into the efforts of men much more learned than I, and I have profited from their prodigious labors. To try to reduce their results to the confines of this letter is impossible, but I would like to ask you one little question, Why leave the King James Bible? I don't believe that we should leave it because it is based upon the correct, pure line of manuscripts and other sources.

There is a pure line of manuscripts and textual sources available which comprise about 90% of all existent materials from which we get our beloved English Bible. The other 10% of manuscripts available are corrupt and not worthy of examination or use. They were rejected by the KJV translators and by Christians throughout the ages. All changes to our trusted Authorized Version which are to be found in the myriad of English versions on the market today are based upon a corrupt line of manuscripts foisted upon our world by the Revision Committee of the 1880s. They produced the Revised Version from greatly revised Greek and Hebrew Texts and from which all changes made in the modern versions spring. They rejected the tried and true line (Greek Received Text and the Hebrew Masoretic Text) and produced a new line of texts with the words of men interjected. These corrupted verses will not produce Godly fruit. Please understand that the problem we have today is primarily a text problem. Please see the Providential Preservation Chart in Jack Moorman's book. 'Forever Settled.' It may be found on the web at www.wayoflife.org where you may also find a wealth of information on this vital subject.

I don't believe that you should leave the KJV because the 47 Authorized Version translators were brilliant Godly scholars, who were diligent in their efforts, who were guided by the Holy Ghost of God, and who were not distracted by affairs of this world. They gave us a wonderful Bible that has transformed the lives of millions of people for the better. For a person to say today that they are qualified to correct the Godly, dedicated scholars on the 1611 committee is the utmost in arrogance. I read or hear almost weekly some person correcting the AV 1611when that person is not in any way qualified to correct the efforts of the translators of the KJV. Every verse of the AV 1611 was examined by dozens of Godly men, and every verse was examined at least 13 times before they settled on the correct translation. Corrupt manuscripts and other sources were rejected and not used. Their ability to discern which source should be used was guided by the Holy Spirit of God. Every verse was prayed over, examined, turned upside down, inside out, compared, and reviewed by some of the most competent men the world has ever seen. Dr. Lancelot Andrews, of whom it was said that he was a master of 15 languages, was just one of the many Godly skilled Holy Spirit led men on the committee. One historian who knew him said that if he had been present at the Tower of Babel he could have been the "Interpreter-General." Maranatha Publications in the forward to their book entitled, 'Translators Revived' had this to say about the entire body of translators. "The publishers doubt that there has ever been a group of men of the caliber of the translators who had not only character and moral qualifications, but were truly SPIRITUAL MEN AS WELL .When we investigate the translators of other versions we find a rather questionable groupůamong them are infidels, agnostics, atheists, revilers, scoffers, profligates, pantheists, and enemies of the Truth."!

Why are we having so little lasting effect on the world around us today? It is because most men are no longer using God's pure words. Jeremiah 23:29-30 "Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the Lord, that steal my words every one from his neighbour. Note that God is talking about His individual words.

For the last 120 plus years the devil has been very successful in supplanting the words of God for the corrupt words of men. Yet, it is only through God's words that we can have a lasting effect upon the souls of men.

Romans 10:17 "ůSo then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

It is sad to see so many people trying to do a good work, and then using the corrupt words of men to try to effect the lives of those to whom they are speaking. The NIV, RV, ASV, NASB, NKJV, and every other English so-called 'Bible' on the market today have all made changes to the God honoured text by using the corrupted line of manuscripts, and therefore we are unable to have any real impact upon the souls of men. Please don't leave the AV 1611. To use one of the other English versions is to water down your message and not have an eternal effect on the souls of men.
